The Riverside Peace Festival is a biannual event celebrating diversity, youth and cultural exchange. // The festival aims to bring people together in a spirit of peace and community. There is a special emphasis on celebrating cultural exchange, especially between Maori and Pakeha. Originally a one-day musical event only, the Festival this year was extended to two days, one of them being a workshop day. Visitors had the chance to learn new skills in workshops such as Aikido, Capoeira, Playback Theatre, Flax weaving, Belly dancing, HipHop BeatBox, storytelling, massage and personal development. In the future, even more emphasis will be put on skill sharing. The music day features a variety of quality and mostly local (world music) groups, mainly presenting themselves on a beautiful bamboo stage construction in the Oval. The Festival’s ambiance is assured with Festival cafes, food stalls, community stalls and a supervised kid zone. Camping is also available. |

| 2005 Review |
| This year's festival, for the first time over two days, was a great success - over 700 adults and children came to participate in various workshops, to enjoy great food, to play and get creative in the beautifully set-up KidZone, to listen and dance to many different bands... Yey for you wonderful bunch of willing volunteers who helped make the event a dynamic team event! |
